I joined MLC in 2018, having fallen out of love with the approach of big recruitment companies. At the time, MLC was a start-up, so I was responsible for developing an entirely new market.

I loved the inclusive interview process and genuinely shared everyone’s belief that they could deliver something impactful within their specialism. I wanted to be a part of a team that didn’t encourage salesy, short-term wins, but wanted to elevate the talent experience.

I find the breadth of subject matter in my market fascinating. Since starting my career, I have supported the Civil Service through five different Prime Ministers (some with longer tenure than others!), the introduction of IR35, countless headcount freezes, Brexit, a global pandemic, the invasion of Ukraine, and a cost-of-living crisis. I genuinely believe UK Central Government talent management deserves the best, which can only be delivered through an expert but human partnership approach – an approach that I have been encouraged to hone at MLC.

So much has evolved for me personally since joining MLC; I got on the property ladder in London (greatly enabled by being able to work flexibly around way too many property viewings!); I now have a dog who regularly joins me in the office; and I am getting married this summer, meaning I have been recently moonlighting as a wedding planner!

We are highly aspirational as a business, which at times can be tough, but which has also driven me to achieve more than I ever thought I was capable of, and I am excited to see what the next chapter of MLC can deliver.
